Common rules for all libraries in Akershus:

1. Borrowing at the library is free of charge.
2. You can borrow material at all the public libraries in Akershus county and return it at the county library of your choice.
3. We can order books we don’t have for you from other libraries.
4. In order to get a library card you will have to present a valid identification and sign for acceptance of the library rules. If you choose you can get a library card valid in most Norwegian libraries.
5. Most libraries require a co-signature from a parent guardian for patrons under 15 years of age.
6. The library card is personal and shall not be lent to others. You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card.
7. Notify the library of any name-change or change of address, phone number or e-mail.
8. Notify your library if your card is lost or stolen and we will replace it for a small fee.
9. Loan period for all books are normally four weeks. Shorter loan periods may apply for other media.
10. Loans can normally be renewed online or by contacting the library.
11. Fines will be charged if items are not returned by the given due date.
12. You are required to pay the cost of replacement or repair of material which is lost or damaged.
13. Breaches of the common rules for public libraries in Akershus could lead to a loss of borrowing privileges.

Books, audio books, music and language courses: 4 weeks
Periodicals and computer games: 2 weeks
DVD’s: 1 week

Renew loans

All loans can be renewed twice if there is no waiting list on the material.

• by calling us
• through our homepage. You will need a pin code. If you have not chosen one, your four digit pin code is the day and month of your birth (e.g. May 1st = 0105).

Remember to renew your loans before the due date.

Fines for late returns

Adults:
First reminder NOK 40.- Second reminder NOK 40.- (Two reminders cost NOK 80.-)

Children (under 15):
First reminder NOK 0.- Second reminder NOK 40.- (Two reminders cost NOK 40.-)

Replacement cost for lost material

Books (adults) 350.-
Books (children) 200.-
Comics 100.-
Periodicals 75.-
DVD’s 200.-
Music CD single 200.-
Music CD double 300.-
Audio books (adults) 350.- (minimum fee)
Audio books (children) 250.- (minimum fee)
Language courses 300.- (minimum fee)
